27 imagesThese images are from The Teddy Bear Clinic, an outreach program at Montefiore Wakefield Hospital on 233rd Street in the Bronx last month. It's goal was to educate and take fear out of visiting the hospital. Once children visited the ambulance crew and other outdoor booths, participants took their bears (or other loved companions) into through triage, x-ray, infection control, met with doctors from the hospital and went through discharge where they received follow-up instructions. Serious fun.

39 imagesThey rise about the soybeans, corn and other crops. They are beacons in the distance and fixtures in the landscape in small towns and agricultural communities throughout southern Minnesota and Northern Iowa. Up close they are massive imposing structures that dwarf the large trucks that make up a steady stream of traffic during the harvest season. From a young age, I have been fascinated by these giant irregular structures and, more recently, how they factor into local economics. They inspire me visually like the artwork of M.C. Escher, the typographies of Bernd and Hilla Becher, painting and photography of Charles Sheeler, Charles Demuth and others fascinated by industrial, rural and agricultural architecture. To be continued...
